Popular Public Torrent Sites
A list of popular public torrent sites grouped by what they’re best at.
1) The Pirate Bay — most-used in general
The Pirate Bay is one of the most-known and most-comprehensive torrent sites. It’s been the subject of many legal cases over the years; shut down, reopened. Today it’s still online via several alternative domains.
2) RARBG — best for new releases and 4K
Another site that gets blocked from time to time. Content is moderated and approved, so you’re less likely to run into Pirate-Bay-style surprises.
3) 1337x — best for software / apps
Founded in 2007 but became popular especially in 2018 when several other torrent sites shut down. Banned from Google search results so you can’t reach it via Google. Note: their ads can be NSFW, not ideal for the office or for children’s machines.
4) Torlock — one of the better ones for ebooks and anime
A site with a clean UI and a rich ebook/anime catalogue. Some torrents you can’t find elsewhere show up here. Worth noting Torlock also goes a bit overboard with ads.
5) Torrentz2 — strong on music
Torrentz2 has a particularly good music album catalogue. Simple UI.
6) Zoogle — strong on games
One of the newer torrent sites; mostly known for games but you can find movies and series too.
Worth noting that while these sites are pretty good for international content, they’re a bit thin on Turkish content. The main reason is that Turkish rights-holders monitor these channels closely and send takedown requests.
